When I first decided that I wanted to apply to Marist, I went on the school's website to gain a better sense of what type of people would flourish in that enviornment. I also wanted to see what credentials the admissions office were looking for. After doing a little research, I filled out the application with crossed fingers.
If anyone would like to get into Marist College someday, I would highly reccomend that during high school and over summer breaks these individuals participate in volunteer activities and community service. Marist looks for well rounded students, not just brilliant minds. They want to make sure that this person will be a benefit to the campus as well. Do not get me wrong, grades and SAT scores are also considered highly. But try to do your part to make sure you stand out from your peers.

I used the commmon app and sent in my SAT scores. In high school, i maintained a 3.7 average and was also involved in many clubs and activities. Marist not only looks at academics, but extracurriculars as well, so I recommend prospective students to get involved in their school and/or community.

Marist does not solely look at scores and GPAS so it is also important to have a lot of activities in high school. I participated in clubs such as Habitat for Humanity and Teachers of Tomorrow in High School that provided me with opportunities to learn and grow and which helped to prepare me for college.

To get into my university, I made sure that I had a competitive resume and a great GPA. I took five AP classes within my Junior and Senior years in high school and took on leadership roles in school clubs such as my Executive Student Council, Drama Club, and Junior Classical League. I proved to my school that I could handle the work load with my AP test scores and that my talents and leadership experience would be a great addition to their community. For any student who would like to be accepted to Marist, I would highly recommend getting your name known in the admissions office by visiting the school and signing up for the Shadow Day program. The Shadow Day program allows you to spend a day in the life of a Marist student as you follow a current student to his/her classes and social activities for a day. Keep up your grades even if you have the worst case of Senioritis and work hard for those high grades and leadership positions! Trust me, they will get you noticed.

I kept up a high GPA, took both the SATs and ACTs, and spent a lot of time and effort on my admission essay. I recommend that potential students take both tests and write a good admissions essay. Also, participating in extracurriculars is beneficial.
